Where Healthy Hair Actually Starts

When we think about healthy hair, we tend to think about what we can see: Shine. Softness. Smoothness. Volume.
But healthy hair begins long before any of those things become visible. It starts beneath the surface, with the scalp that supports every strand, the structure of the hair itself, and the everyday habits that determine how well hair is able to retain moisture, withstand stress, and maintain its strength over time. It Starts at the Scalp
Every strand of hair begins inside a hair follicle beneath the surface of the scalp. The scalp contains thousands of hair follicles, each responsible for producing individual hair fibers through a continuous growth cycle.
While we often focus our attention on the hair we can see, the scalp provides the environment in which every strand grows. That doesn't mean a healthy scalp guarantees perfect hair. When the cuticle remains relatively smooth, hair is better able to retain moisture, reflect light, and resist tangling. As it becomes worn, hair often begins to feel rougher, appear duller, and become more susceptible to breakage.
